5 Tips during Pregnancy

Lucy is our resident new mum, with her babies first birthday fast approaching she has some great tips for mums2be!

“A warm hello to all you mumsjustlove readers, and congratulations on your pregnancy. When Helen asked me for my 5 top tips for a new arrival these immediately came to mind. I will share more of my pregnancy thoughts and newborn baby tips over the coming weeks.

Train Your Man…
This really starts in pregnancy! Train you man as early as possible when you get up to wee in the night, accidentally nudge him so he learns to wake up for those night feeds.

Routine…
When our little baby was born, she was taken into intensive care which meant we got into a routine very quickly. So have a think about your day and what you want out of it and then stick to it. We tried to make the baby reaslise when it was nighttime and when it was daytime by changing our approach (e.g. quite at night and more noisy during the day). We also had set times for reading, bathing and visitors. Feeds and nappy changes pretty much as needed.

Getting Up…
Stick to a time to get showered, my was before my partner set off for work that way I had 15 minutes to myself in the shower without the worry of babies needs

Sleep…
This is simple sleep when baby sleeps, keep visitors to a minimum unless they are prepared to help by keeping an eye on baby or doing some household chores!

Getting Ready…
Be prepared by 25 weeks, so about 6 months into your pregnancy. Start to organize the key pieces of furniture for your nursery and the key items you will need for the first 4 weeks, as trust me you will be a busy bee. I had my hospital bag ready at 7 months but had been buying items for it so it was just a case of packing the bag. Month 7 was my last one at work so was pretty busy and just as i finish for maternity leave I went into labour so had my baby 4 weeks early – so really be prepared!
